Canyamel is waiting you
Canyamel is a small and quiet resort located in one of the most eastern points of Mallorca in the municipality of Capdepera. It is known for being one of the best places to enjoy a peaceful holiday and disconnect from everything. We hope that this abcMallorca guide will help you discover what makes the village of Canyamel so appropriate for those seeking a luxury lifestyle in Mallorca.
Sugar cane used to be grown in this part of Mallorca during the 18th century, and that’s where the name Canyamel comes from, which means sugar cane and honey in old Latin. To this day, British residents still call it “Caramel” or “Caramel”. The beach has an influx of fresh water thanks to the “Torrente de Canyamel”, which extends 8 kilometres from the old town of Artà nearby. This torrent also flows into the small lake of “s’Estany de sa Torre”, which was donated to the town of Canyamel in 1446 by King John II of Aragon. Like many other towns on the coast of Mallorca, Canyamel has a history of defending itself against pirate attacks.
Nowadays, Canyamel enjoys a constant flow of international tourists who have probably been attracted to this area by word of mouth or by repeated experience. This town is still typically Mallorcan and is not dominated by any particular nationality of tourists. Canyamel is not very developed by Mallorcan standards and offers good hotels and excellent sports facilities. It is a great choice for a relaxing family or sports holiday and enjoys exceptional natural beauty.
